An Open Letter To My Soul Sister

I am a true believer in the idea that the universe places certain people in the lives of others for a purpose. I could write a book on all the reasons why I will be forever grateful to call you my best friend. I am thankful for and will cherish every moment, every new experience, every laugh, and every cry.

Thank you for accepting all of me.

There are very few people in this world whose opinions of me I take seriously. You are constantly uplifting and motivating me. You are always one of the first people to blow up my Instagram comments when I post a new picture. Whenever I am down, you somehow find a way to make me laugh. Thank you for loving me, flaws and all.

Thank you for never getting sick of me.

I wish I could explain to you how much it means to me that you never treated me as if I were a burden. As if my problems were a drain on your life or that I got in your way. You never turned me away, never made me feel bad for needing to vent, or cry, or get drunk after a stressful week.

Thank you for always being real.

You are the realest person I know. I honestly did not think anyone could be as brutally honest as I am, but I was obviously wrong. Even in the hardest moments you are always honest, always telling me things straight up with no sugar coat. Your tough love helped me get through some difficult times.

Thank you for all the laughs and all the cries. I have the most fun when you are by my side. We had that one algebra final and never looked back. Now, you are my club buddy and designated driver (kinda) when necessary. The person who exchanges dozens of memes with me and still laughs like you're seeing them for the very first time. Through the good and the bad you have been there, a true ride or die.

Thank you for helping me through the toughest times of my life.

Over the years my life has been an actual rollercoaster - a lot of highs and lows, moments of excitement, as well as moments of fear. You came into my life during a time where I needed you the most. A time where I was cold and angry at everyone all the time. This past year has been the hardest and I hit my lowest of points, but you made me see the glass half full. You taught me that no matter what life threw at me, that I could get through it, and that better things are ahead.

Thank you for being you. You are truly one of a kind. You are smart, ambitious, selfless, loving, caring, genuine, down to earth, and drop dead gorgeous. You have the biggest and most beautiful heart of anyone I know. You radiate positivity and make an impression on everyone you come across. I cannot wait to see where life takes you next, and I am excited to be alongside of you on the journey.

And finally, thank you for loving me enough for the both of us until I learned to love myself.
